Product Description The AF-S VR 105 f/2.8G IF-ED brings the benefits of vibration reduction (VR) to the domain of Macro photography. It offers high-resolution, high-optical performance for both digital and 35mm film format SLR cameras. This lens incorporates Nikon's second-generation vibration reduction system (VR II) that allows flexible hand-held shooting by stabilizing the image to the equivalent stability of a shutter speed that is 4 stops faster when compared with a conventional lens (as determined by Nikon performance test). The SWM (Silent Wave Motor) and IF (Internal Focusing) ensure quiet autofocusing with quick and convenient switching between autofocus and manual operation. Optical performance is enhanced by an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element that minimizes chromatic aberration, and Nano Crystal Coat which drastically reduces flare, enabling finely defined, clear images.

Nikon 105mm VR January 6, 2009 The lense is everything my wife wanted it to be for close up pictures. Great Macro lense.
Awesome Lens! December 13, 2008 This lens is really sweet! I wasn't sure about buying it because of the price, but research on the lens convinced me. I am not disappointed. The auto focus works like a charm, and for tripod shots, like moon shots, I can turn the AF off on the camera body (Nikon D60) and on the lens to take really great shots. One word of caution though, make sure to turn the VR off for tripod work! I also took some really nice shots of my oldest son and some landscape photos with it so far. The lens is sharp, and it makes a great addition to any kit.
A great Macro lenses December 8, 2008 I bought this lenses 2 months ago. I use it mainly for medical photography. The images are very sharp. I really like the VR (vibration Reduction) function and I find it very helpful for my purposes. The AF with the manual over-ride is efficient and easy to use. I used it in combination with a R1-C1 flash unit and a D80 body.
Professional Glass! November 25, 2008 This is a pro piece of glass and takes phenomenal pictures. I recommend this to anyone interested in getting into macro photography as I have been for some time. Focusing can be a little tricky, but the photographs can be breathtaking with a little work.
Hobby November 19, 2008 I have a Nikon D80. I like to take close-ups of flowers and textured objects of interest. This new lens gives me full scale of the object and outstanding clarity. The anti-shake feature is great for hand-held. Being able to switch from auto-focus to manual quickly and easily is a big plus. Love it.
