Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Based on input from some of the world's top photographers, the Journalist-or J-Series-Bags maintain the "unction-first" philosophy of Jim Domke, while adding some new touches, such as a more versatile Padded Insert system and removable "armor" panels for extra protection. All J-Series bags are made of super-tough 1050 denier ballistic nylon. They come in black only, with muted labeling - so the whole world doesn't know you're carrying expensive photo equipment.A "super compact" part of the J-Series that's just the right size when you want to travel light to a shoot, but still have all the basics with you. Has the same materials and styling as the J-1 and J-2. Can hold 1 or 2 cameras with or without motor drives, 3 or 4 lenses, flash, film and filters.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE this bag!!!!!   January 8, 2008

I rec'd the bag today and absolutely LOVE it! It looks even better in person than it does in the photos I've seen online. It easily holds my Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lens attached, Nikon 55-200 VR lens, SB-600 (in the Nikon velcro pouch), all my manuals, cords, battery charger, etc, etc, etc. I wanted a bag that I would not outgrow for a while that was very well padded and not too huge. It was also important that it did not scream camera bag. This fits the bill perfectly! It will hold at least 2 more lenses on top of all the other stuff I have in the bag already without being cramped. It's very well made and I expect that it will only get better with age. I really love the ballistic nylon material. I had also considered the Domke F-3XB, but am glad that I went with this one instead. This one is more padded so I feel like the stuff inside is safe and I don't worry about anything rubbing or clanking together. The side pockets velcro close but also have a clasp for added security. I'm rather petite and this bag carries perfectly. Great purchase!!!! I highly recommend the Domke J-3! ******SIDE NOTE: Be sure to check out all customer reviews for the third party vendor at www.resellerratings.com BEFORE you make your purchase at Amazon.com. It could save you a huge headache and from being scammed! I got mine through Adorama Camera via Amazon.com and was very happy.******

Very well made. Lots of room in the side pockets. Durable. Looks great in black. Feels great on your shoulder. I've found the short strap handle to be very helpful.

I use the J-3 to carry around my D200 with 18-200, 12-24, and 50 1.4f lenses, I also carry my SB 600 and an extra battery. I have plenty of room, things feel protected and yet it makes for easy access. I looked for a long time for this bag, I am very happy with it. I hate large cumbersome bags, but needed something big enough to get the job done. Great build quality, it is very easy to move around the dividers, but they stay put. Love this bag. If your looking for a bag, around this size, your search stops here.

Bought my Domke J3 earlier this year prior to a European trip. In it I carried a Konica Minolta 7D SLR, a Minolta A1 camera, a 3600 flash, 3 lenses, plus a wide angle converter, a 40GB FlashTRax, plus the requisite memory cards, batteries, 2 chargers and several lens hoods etc. This is one tough, versatile bag...I will never be without my Domke again!

5 out of 5 stars The best all-around camera bag IMHO   December 17, 2004

I've used Domke bags almost since they existed. I love the minimal design which equates with being able to work fast. The canvas Domkes didn't offer much in the way of shock or extreme weather protection, which is solved in the J3 - it's padded and made from ballistic nylon. It's surprisingly roomy for a small bag - I carried 2 Nikon motor bodies, 4 lenses (including a 300 and an 80-200) and a strobe on a penguin expedition in New Zealand a couple years ago. It was great, easy to work out of and kept the sometimes intense rain off my gear. I'm a fan.
